We're Back! Introducing our brand new premises...

After a long year of uncertainty, we’ve finally moved into our new home and we’re ready to get back to doing what we do best! We’re excited to announce that we’ve moved into The Old Courts (www.theoldcourts.co.uk) Crawford St, Wigan town centre. It’s less than a five minute walk from our old premises, and is closer to the bus station, both train stations and car parking.

"The top two priorities when considering new premises were accessibility and the well-being of our team."

We’re pleased to say that our new home ticks lots of boxes on both fronts. The event space and office are wheelchair accessible, and there’s an accessible toilet within meters - helping us to get closer to our ambition of being as inclusive as possible. In terms of staff wellbeing, there’s heating (if you know, you know), a cafe and a communal break-out area on site, and we’ve been made to feel safe and secure by the wonderful team at The Old Courts.

We will no longer have a gallery and shop, and we won’t be open to the public all the time. No need to worry though - we will still be putting on exhibitions in partnership with local venues, and we’ll be popping up with our shop where we can. In the meantime, you can shop our Republic of Wigan range at Wigan Museum, or via our online Etsy store (which will be reopening soon!). We’ll also be hosting no-pressure coffee mornings throughout the year so that people can pop in for a chat with us, find out about what we do and see the space in which we host our events.

"Most of our regular events such as Pottery Night, Mini Makers, Young Makers and Digital Imagination will be taking place in the newly refurbished, wheelchair accessible Community Room at The Old Courts."

We’re also going to be running events out in the community more - at libraries, community centres and schools. Our events will restart from Wednesday 9th March (excluding Pottery Night which will recommence on Monday 21st March) with our current group of Young Makers and booking will open very soon for all other events! Click here to go to our Eventbrite.

It’s going to take us a little longer to begin operating our Community Workshop again, as the space needs a lot of TLC and a good lick of paint first, but rest assured there will still be a space for artists and makers across the borough to access our much loved facilities. We’re going to be asking our community for help with getting it up and running - more on this soon!

"A huge huge thank you to those of you who have supported us throughout this time."

We’re looking forward to being able to focus on doing what we do best and seeing all of your faces again! Please do visit us soon.
