A Round-up of the Wild Ways Family Events!

Take a closer look at the spectacular Wild Ways Family Events held at four of our beautiful green spaces around Wigan - Pennington Flash, Bickershaw Country Park, Amberswood and Wigan Flashes!

In partnership with the Lancashire Wildlife Trusts’ Carbon Landscape Partnership, four artists were commissioned to deliver site specific projects intended to connect children, families and schools with their local green spaces. The project has come to an end now and we're so thrilled with how many people engaged with the artists and green spaces! Read on to find out about the Family Events held over the past few weeks!

Jayne Seddon's Wanderland Art Lab

Artist Jayne Seddon set up her Wanderland Art Lab in Bird Hide No. 1 at Pennington Flash then took her participants on a walk around the flash, collecting natural specimens to study and draw later on, celebrating the brilliant biodiversity of the flash.

Natalie Linney's Magical Moths

Artist Natalie Linney took her printed magical moth wings to a meadow in Bickershaw Country Park, encouraging her guests to test them out and pose for photos with Bickershaw as the back drop.

Joe Ford's Through the Lens

We had an amazing day by the lake at Amberswood, closely observing the wildlife and learning all about how to shoot 35mm film cameras with Joe Ford, to capture the essence of the green space (all while dodging a few swans!).

Sally Gilford's Smitten with Bitterns

Sally took her Smitten with Bitterns Gel Printing Workshop to Wigan Flashes and guided participants on a mindful forage to collect natural form, commonly found in and around the Bittern's habitat. Back at the pop up workshop, our new artists had the opportunity to create gel prints, using the magical green space as inspiration!

The biggest thank you to everyone who came along and participated! We've loved helping Jayne, Natalie, Sally, Joe and all of our partners introduce as many people as possible to these beautiful green spaces and new creative activities!
